I'll be honest, normally I'm not a fan of the whole historical romance novel. However I found the description on Spring for Susannah very intriguing - the mail-order bride scenario seemed a little different than what I usually read. Spring for Susannah is set in the 1800's on the frontier in the Dakota territory.The characters were very likable and interesting, I loved Jesse from the moment he was introduced and I truly felt the chemistry between Jesse and Susannah. After reading the book I can tell you that it's not your typical mail-order setting but more of a 'last resort' for Susannah. She knew this was her last alternative to even hope for a husband and home.
When Susannah left the home she knew she had no idea what she was getting herself into, she still got on the train and headed west. She was nervous and afraid. She assumed her new husband would have a home like she was accustomed to and she would take care of it and her husband as her mother taught her. In these pages of this book you will find out that she got something very different.
Can you imagine? Put yourself in her place: leaving everyone you have known your entire life and going out into the total unknown. I loved how patient and kind Jesse was with Susannah.
The only CON I really is have I felt the story being rushed with little to no emotion. I was little was disappointed with the ending, maybe another chapter or two. However, its a great story leaving the reader wanting more!! I hope there will be a sequel! She is a great new author!

Which book is your favorite?
That's a tough question because so many of the titles have woven their way into my heart! Although I have never had children (biologically, that is). I love the art and sentiments in Eat Your Peas for New Moms and I can hardly wait until it is published in the new hardcover keepsake edition by Thomas Nelson. New mothers need and deserve all the cheering on they can get!
Okay, here's another favorite. I wrote Eat Your Peas for Moms (not to be confused with New Moms) as a love letter to my own mother. When Mom read it for the first time she broke down and cried (a rarity in front of her kids) and told me she was glad she lived long enough to hear the words in that book. She'll turn age 90 in a couple of weeks.
Have you ever thought about doing a book for Mother's of Multiples or Parent's of Multiples for that matter?

I normally LOVE Max Lucado and was very excited about this book, however upon reading it, I was...less than thrilled. Some of the question are answer with a plethora of God's word and bible verses. Then other questions are answered purely with Max Lucados opinion...frankly, I would rather hear God's thoughts on the issue rather than man's. In the aspect of Sex, weather it be abuse or premarital, man is man and will judge, where God will not. I felt a unbalance to the book. The book just isn't for me. I think there are a lot of people out there that would probably enjoy it. I would suggest to my family and friends to check for it at the Library or maybe barrow it before they buy.

Before "Eat Your Peas Daughters" I was not familiar with the "eat your peas" series. I have to tell you I am hooked! This may very well be one of my all time favorite books! My review...
Summer and Noelle have been pen pals their entire lives, but they have never met face to face. When Summer receives a phone call from her doctor that has the potential to rearrange her well ordered world. Summer does something very out of character. She picks up the phone and books a ticket to fly to the Netherlands to finally meet her best friend and pen pal, Noelle. I love the encouragement her husband gives when she tells him that she is going! It reminded me of my husband.
After the relax and fall into the natural friendship which they have shared through childood, teenage angst, college years, getting married, children and daily lives. They spend one entire week getting to know each other's day to day personality. I would love to be able to visit the Corrie ten Boome home and experience what they experienced.
It took me a while to open this book...the two day's before it arrived were a wirlwind of emotions for me. A number of dear women in my life were told they have breast cancer. One of these women has the worst of the worst. When the book arrived I was so excited to read it. When I read the words written about Summer it stopped me in my tracks, almost too much to bear. I am a huge fan of the SisterChicks books and the Author, who I grew up reading...Gotta love Christy Miller:)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! It is ADORABLE!
Izzy's Pop Star Plan is one of the cutest books I have read in a long time. It is written like a devo/novel - and at the same time looks like a blog! Izzy 'posts' a entry everday. Talk about a bible verses and prays! I love this book now, I can't imagine how much I would have loved it when I was 12ish. Oh, another cool thing that every young girl will like is that this book is interactive!!! They have a website, so some of the blog entries say "go to the website" and there is actually really a website!!
I would HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone with a young woman in their life! It says for ages 9-12 on one website and on another it says 12-18 --- I think it would be perfect for ages 8ish to 16! However, the Moms will enjoy it as well! I am planning on ordering a half dozen copies to give as gifts. I also think that this book could be a really fun Mommy/Daughter study or for your daughter/granddaughter and her friends to read together and talk about it!

what I thought... I have had the pleasure of reading the other Joanna Weaver books, Including 'Having a Mary Heart in a Martha world" which was great. I had high hopes from
Once again Joanna writes it a way that I am easily able to connect with. She is very much a normal person. I have read many books where the author is so caught up in a particular writing style that it is so difficult to connect with.
I was drawn to a part of the book on page 20. 'When Life doesn't make sense' "It wasn't supposed to be this way. Death, grief and pain..." How often I feel this way. There have been many time is my life when I have wondered and said "Why God!!" Jonanna reminds us that we were not made for this world, but we were made for Paradise. How sweet of a thought that is!!
another part that stood out... John 11:20-27 When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home.

What I thought...
This is kind of a 6 in one - half dozen the other review, because I have a 6 year old and 17 month old twins.
Bible Only:
First of all Read and Share: The Ultimate DVD Bible - Volume 2 is beautifully illistrated. It also does a great job of teaching each Bible story in a way that small children can grasp and easily understand. However, the age range for Read and Share is 4-8...I totally disagree with this age range. I have a 6 year old and almost 17 month old twin. While reading The Read and Share Bible, my oldest told me that "this is a perfect bible for the twins" He found it boring and toddler like. My twins on the other hand sat and listened, pointed to pictures, we talked about each story...they loved it, and have been bringing it to me to read! Another thing that I was very disappointed in was the lack of a prayer or bible verse at the end of each story. At the beginning of each story it tells where out of the bible it is taken from, but that's it. I felt it to be just a "story book" Rather than a "BIBLE" story book. To twart this, we say a prayer at the end of each and read more out of another bible to make it a little more, bible focused. With all this being said, I think The Read and Share: The Ultimate DVD Bible - Volume 2 would be good for ages 18 months - 3. If you have a older child I would recommend looking for something else.
DVD's:
Now, the DVD's on the other hand held my 6 year olds attention, and he loved them. He sat down and watch each from start to finish...in silence. I like being able to watch the stories. My twins like the dvd's as well, but they only watched a few before that went off to play.
I think that if you have children of different ages from 1-8 you would probably like this, but if not, I still maintain my suggestion of age 18 months - 3.

What I thought...
I have really enjoyed this book! It the story of a young woman (Lucy) who wonders what is going to happen to her Girls home after she loses funding. She strikes up a deal with a Ex-NFL hero (Alex) who needs Lucy to get elected...Its kind of The Proposal meets Sweet Home Alabama...but with a Christian perspective.
Throughout Save the Date the "agreement" causes a roller coaster of emotions, not only between Alex and Lucy, but Alex and his brother, Lucy and Matt, plus her Grandmother and deceased Father she never knew.
Lucy finds her self surprised when the things don't turn out the way she assumed they would. Lucy seeks the Lord's guidance through the book...and finds her self surprised at who else is seeking the Lord as well!
At the beginning Save the Date talks about how Lucy runs a girls home for young women who have been in the foster care system, but are now 18 and have no where to go...expect Saving Grace. Saving Grace is a big part of this book and I really like that, all too often I read a book where the main woman is kind of a blur...who is she, does she have friends? a job? Jenny B. Jones did a wonderful job making Lucy feel like a friend! Alex...I actually really liked Alex from the beginning. He was rough and hard around the edges, but I knew something great was on its way! He's a twin, which I like, since I have twins.
Save the Date is funny, Witty, and keeps you wondering what is going to happen...all the while surprising you! I would highly recommend this book!!

In six brief chapters, Cymbala alternates between biblical and contemporary stories many about his parishioners to illustrate simple, powerful messages about how people have succeeded and failed in efforts to live a blessed life. He does a fine job of making Old Testament stories accessible to a wide audience, and in doing so shows how kings such as Uzziah and Josiah interacted with God and reaped both blessings and sorrows, depending on the condition of their hearts and the choices they made. Mixed with these stories are snippets of information about the Brooklyn Tabernacle, Cymbala's astoundingly successful church, but for a fuller story of its humble beginnings and miraculous growth, readers would do better to read Cymbala's first three publications, as well as Carol Cymbala's book (reviewed below). Cymbala's tone is refreshingly earnest, and while he does not downplay God's ability and willingness to allow human suffering, he and Sorenson emphasize above all God's tenderness and deep love for everyone. Also admirable is the absence of vitriol in this book; Cymbala imitates the godly gentleness he extols and repeatedly warns against the pride and hardness of heart to which those who are blessed can fall prey. While some of Cymbala's rhetoric may superficially appear to echo the gospel of health and wealth, even the most cursory reading reveals that he speaks of blessings much less tangible and more enduring than money and material well-being. My thoughts...
This is a amazing book! Totally uplifting! Althought small and a fairly quick read it is like nothing I have ever read! The Life God Blesses is full of God wonderful blessings. Some of the stories Pastor Cymbala writes about just left my jaw dropped...all the while sitting in amazment of what our wonderful Lord can do! We have a wonderful, LOVING father who wants to show us. The Lord does great things every single day. After reading this book, I have such a fire for the Lord!

I will be honest this is the very first book I have read by Sheila Walsh. Through the years I have never been able to make it to Women of Faith for one reason or another. All I can say is I have truly been missing out on this Awesome woman of God!

My Review...Lisa Bevere's newest book, Lioness Arising Steams from a vision that God gave her years ago, Bevere introduces the lioness as a point of comparison to illustrate women's potential power, passion, prowess, and purpose once they are stirred awake.
When I first selected this book to review I had high hopes. While waiting for the book to arrive I was able to read the 1st chapter HERE.
Bevere speaks to the many roles of women, such being wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters of God. In addition she encourages women to be 'fierce' like a lioness in protecting all children, to use night vision to rescue those caught in darkness, to nurture and encourage other women, and to advocate for the voiceless!!

He will be 6 tomorrow, he is able to connect with every part of this prayer. Happiness, sadness, pain, ect. and the illastrations are beautiful & perfect, from a little girl with a broken doll, to a little boy being left out. I think Anothony DeStefano did a great job with This Little Prayer of Mine. My son and I both love the way the words flow together from page to page...like a poem, or even a song. This Little Prayer of Mineis a VERY easy read and he is able to read it on his own, which I love!This Little Prayer of Minewould be a perfect additon for anyone who has little one who is learning to read and loves Jesus!! :)

I remember watching the wall come down- Nov. 9th 1989 - my older brother Troy lived in Germany at the time, and called when the wall was coming down.
Not only are these all things that I admire about Ronald Reagan, but his spiritual life and marriage to Nancy have always been intriguing to me! I absolutely LOVE this book! Mary Beth Brown did a beautiful job. This book is Jam packed full, of President Ronald Reagan's life. His life as a child, his marriage to adorable and Godly Nancy, His Children...ever thing. I just can't say enough, it is just wonderful. Through out the book there are a number of photos from is life, I really enjoyed seeing him as a child. Among others there is the emotional section about his farewell handwritten letter to the Nation and telling them (us) about his Alzheimer's disease.

Now, this is a man that truly had Jesus in his heart. I am so happy to have known about him, and I will be teaching my Children about our wonderful 40th President! Not only was Mr. President a Believer, a Husband, a Father, and a Amazingly Caring Man. He was also a gifted writer:

"My sister -in-law, 'Holly', will be visiting from my country. She is having dreams about Jesus. May I bring her to the play?" My wife and I looked at each other as "Alan", on of the Middle Eastern English students, mentioned the upcoming Christmas Eve event. We had invited our entire class to attend the children's Nativity play at a local church. Knowing that Muslims often dream about Jesus when God's Spirit is working in their loves, we replied, "We would lobe that!"
While waiting for our friends to arrive on Christmas Eve, we pursed the program. Instead of the traditional story in Bethlehem, the play was set in the American Old West. Would this be confusing for our friends? When Alan and his family came in, we saw Holly stop abruptly. She then spoke quickly, using sweeping hand motions. She pointed to the altar, where the manger was placed. Alan translated, "This is the exact location of her dream. She walked down this aisle. She saw Jesus standing there, with his arms open for her. She bowed to Him there." Alan pointed to the manger.
We gave Holly a Bible, and she hugged it to her heart. We needn't have worried; juggling Chimpanzees could have been in the play, and Holly wouldn't have noticed. She sat smiling, reading her Bible the entire time - a dream come true!

When I was 18 my mom gave me a daily devotional for Christmas. For the last decade that is what my husband and I have used, reading it over and over all these years. I love the devotional, but a few months ago I found my self searching for something new and fresh for us. Unto the Hills: A daily Devotional by Billy Graham is just what I have been looking for. Each day is filled with Bible passages and encouraging words to help guide believers in their day to day lives. This is a great book, I would love to get it for all the Christians in my life.

My Review...
Claire finds old love letter 35 years after it was written at her mother's Memorial service. Starts Claire on a journey down the California coast to find the sender, this boy who seemed so in love with her mother. Along the way she meets many wonderful people...all of them just happen to be Christians! The Little the old couple who help her out and the young woman who becomes a friend when she needs one, all are always saying, "God will Provide"! When she gets to where she is going she finds a house to rent with a somewhat familiar realtor with a very familiar Mother. Her Neighbor is a handsome police officer.
I LOVE this book! It is 352 pages and I read it within 8 hours. Delivered with Love is full of God's love and forgiveness. Forgiving others is a very large part of this book. Note* There is a VERY tragic part of the story towards the end of the book, where I had to stop reading because I was crying. I really liked how through out the entire book the "The Lord with Provide" was mentioned. God's love is so amazing. Just reading about someone accepting Jesus into their heart was so powerful...I cried. The Author did a amazing job of creating characters with such depth. I have no favorite person in this book...they all are. Once the book is released in April 2011, I will be adding it to my library!
